In the last General Conference the age for missionaries was change to 18 for young men and 19 for young women, I honestly never even though about serving a mission, 21 seemed like such a long time away for me, I am only 19! So I never thought about it. I got the incredible chance to actually to go to conference in Salt Lake. I told my mom about it. I had called her a few days before I left and was just so confused. I wanted to know what I was going to do with myself. I don't have a major, I don't have any huge committments with school, I didn't have a plan! So she told me to go to conference with a question and it will be answered. So I decided to pray for some guidence and comfort to make a plan for myself. Then on Saturday morning, my sister Jill ran downstairs where a bunch of us girls were getting ready and told us to come up quick and hear what the prophet was saying. We all ran upstairs and heard President Thomas S. Monson make the historical announcement! As soon as it was said, I felt the spirit in a way I have never felt it before. I felt like this was something I could do, maybe this was my answer! I went to conference on Sunday afternoon, and if you have never been to general conference, you need to go! It's an amazing experience! When I got home from such an exciting weekend, I really pondered about the decision to go on a mission or not. I finally came to the conclusion that this was my answer and I needed and wanted to do this! The more and more I prepare for it, I am so much more grateful for the prophet and the announcement he made. I have started looking at the scriptures differently and others differently. I am so blessed to have such amazing institute teachers, leaders, bishoprics, family, and friends that are supporting me in my decision! I am so excited to share Christ's good news to the people in Australia! I am so blessed to know that my Savior lives and loves me and I have been chosen to serve Him.

Happy Adventures,

Hi! I'm Sis.Ardeth Maligon from the Philippines. I am also called to serve in Australia Brisbane Mission! I was searching for others who'll be serving in the same area, that's why I came across your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm supposed to report at the New Zealand MTC next thursday(28th of feb) but I had to renew my passport and had to apply for two visas(NZ and AUs). so, it'll be moved to a later date. I'm just happy to see other sisters who will also be serving with me in the same mission. Hope to see you there! :)
